Your perfect abdominal training. Exercises and tips for a strong body.

Push-ups rowing on gym rings

One of the most common questions you hear from your training partner towards the end of the training is certainly the following: “Don’t we want to do something for the stomach?” Perhaps you are the person yourself who, as a conclusion, still longs for a few extra sets for the hull. The popularity of isolated abdominal training is huge and therefore you will find out in this article when it makes sense to exercise your abdomen extra and how to strengthen your body center with simple and efficient exercises on the gym rings.

Abdominal training alone does not lead to a six-pack

The reasons for an extra unit “belly” at the end of the training are often of optical origin. Many athletes dream of visible abdominal muscles, especially when summer approaches. The motivation to train more to get closer to his goals is not wrong at first, but we have to clarify a few myths that are related to the “Sixpack Training”.

While additional training of your abdominal muscles will strengthen your torso, which is also helpful, it won’t burn the excess fat your muscles may be hiding behind. You cannot melt your fat in the abdominal area through thousands of abdominal units. Whether you develop a visible six-pack depends mainly on your genetics or where your body stores its fat. The most effective way to reduce body fat is by eating less calories than you burn. It depends on whether your abdominal muscles become visible or not. Thus, your additional abdominal training with the aim of exposing your six-pack is rather superfluous. In your training, do not focus on media-enhanced beauty ideals, but rather focus your goal of abdominal training on the functional aspects that will help you progress in the rest of your training.

Ring training without core strength? No way!

From a sporting point of view, targeted core training still has its raison d’être. A strong core can protect you from injuries during training and bring health benefits. You can use your core muscles with the gym rings both in isolation and in combination with other muscles. Well, if we’re being honest, you can’t avoid effective abdominal training, because on the rings, your torso has a supporting task in almost every exercise. Whether for push-ups, pull-ups or the support your torso will always be involved and perform its core task, the stabilization of the spine. So it does not always have to be the situps to carry out effective abdominal training.

If you still want more

Even if we think that you are already sufficiently demanding your abdominal muscles with the basic exercises on the rings, we still want to give you a few exercises that are specially designed for a strong torso.

Our favorite exercise for the belly on the gym rings is called push-ups rowing. This exercise takes up your core muscles much more intensively than other exercises due to the instability of the rings. On the one hand, your torso muscles need to stabilize you in pushups. In addition, lateral rotation, which is triggered by lifting an arm, must be prevented. You can adjust this exercise in complexity to your level of performance, as you do, Paul explains in the following video:

The best exercises for getting started

In addition to push-ups, there are many other exercises for a strong stomach, such as holding in push-ups or lifting your leg in support. In the following video, Eric explains five exercises that you can incorporate into your training as both beginner and advanced. For example, perform these five exercises with three sets of 30 seconds. Pay attention to a clean technique and like to increase or reduce the requirements depending on what demands you.

Train your torso with complex exercises

Finally, we want to emphasize again that your core muscles cannot be trained mainly by isolated abdominal exercises. Of course, it is more obvious and perhaps a satisfaction if you feel a sore abdominal muscle the next day. This is not necessary for growing abdominal muscles and your torso will grow without sore muscles. Exercises such as elevators, Skin The Cat, L-Sit pull-ups, dips or frontlever strengthen your abdominal muscles more than enough so that you can do without your extra training and save yourself a lot of time. If you need more inspiration on how to cover your abdominal training, we’ll show you 18 more abdominal exercises on the gym rings in the following video:

We hope we were able to explain to you when additional core training really makes sense and how to do it correctly. Try the presented exercises and adjust them to your training level. So you will sustainably build a strong and healthy torso. We wish you every success and fun!
